Hennessy Masterclass at the Westbury
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
On Tuesday 17th November we were lucky enough to host a Masterclass with one of the most famous names in Cognac at the Westbury hotel, brand Ambassador to the House of Hennessy, Marc Boissonnet.
Marc gave us an overview of the history of the company and the changes it has seen over the centuries. It was fascinating to find out what a progressive brand this has been, even exploring global markets back in the 1790’s!
As we know the business was set up by an Irish man, Richard Hennessy in Cognac, France in 1765. Today it is run by the members of the 6th generation of the Hennessy family along with the 5th generation of the original master blender’s family and is part of the prestigious LVMH group.
Marc then tutored us though a tasting of the Hennessy VS, VSOP, XO and Hennessy Paradis, helping us to identifying the different flavour and aroma characteristics. It was interesting to hear others opinions and we were amazed at how many 100’s of eau de Vie (brandy) are blended to create the signature Hennessy flavour.

All the attendees were given Hennessy tumblers and generous samples of the VSOP to enjoy at home. An informative and enjoyable evening all round!
